I’m Amy Nesheim!

As a licensed small business attorney, I take the guesswork out of the legal side of your creative business so you can get back to what you do best without worrying about high-risk client relationships or high-dollar legal fees.

Let me guess, you’ve been in business long enough to know the good, the bad and the blessings of having a solid legal cushion.

You’ve probably had amazing clients and a few that didn’t exactly go according to plan… Maybe they tried to get you to do more work than was originally agreed upon… without amending the payment terms…

Maybe they changed the scope or direction of the project part-way through… Or worst of all… maybe you had a client who paid late (or refused to pay at all).

That stops here – with the Legal Protection Template Pack.

Eric Sullivan

“I landed my first consulting client and needed a contract template, fast. The Legal Protection bundle was just what I needed. I plugged my info into the consulting contract template and had it to the client within an hour of purchasing.”

Skeptic Arthfrrind

“I’m doing a soft re-launch of my business this month. I’ve written a contract on my own before and it took forever. Six or seven hours of writing terms, conditions, and making sure everything was compliant.”

“I booked a client and she asked for a contract. I was ready for her. It took 45 minutes to edit everything to my needs and an extra 15 revising.”

“Boom, bam. Client liked the contract. I now have a recurring client for the next 3 months, but likely longer than that!”

Skeptic Arthfrrind, Bear Friend Media
Dana Zificsak

“I was like a deer in headlights trying to figure out coaching contracts and website policy pages. These templates were exactly what I needed. I spent an afternoon watching the videos and customizing these templates. I told my husband it was the best money I’ve spent on my business!”

Red-Flag-Proof your Coaching Practice or Services

And if they have no intention of trying anything funny then a contract shouldn’t concern them at all.

It’s easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm and excitement of signing a new client, but presenting new clients with a contract prior to starting the work can shed light on red flags and spare you both potential headaches, heartaches (and high-dollar legal fees!) It makes it ‘real’ to them that they’re striking up a deal that they’ll be legally held accountable to.

Here’s how this worked out for Jenny:

Jenny Dang

Designer

A friend reached out to me to help design his album art. I let him know that a contract was in order for him to sign which he agreed to. We had agreed on a fair price and deadline as well as my skillset for the tasks; all seemed to be in line perfectly. However, when I sent him the contract, he said it looked "too legal" and "extensive" then asked for my portfolio due to how "technical" the contract was. He than said he needed to consult with his lawyer (which is fair), but he made it seem inconvenient to do... I gave it some thought and decided to withdraw from working with him. Now, this may not seem like a big win, but thinking back, I felt truly protected by having a Amy's Freelancing Contract as I knew it covered all the bases of protecting my work and services. It revealed that my friend didn't really trust me and I decided to withdraw from the project (I foresaw future headaches). I've used this same exact contract with clients in the past as well as present and there hasn't been a problem like that sort. I'm so glad that these contracts clarify my professionalism as well as protect me.

Prove this isn’t some “little business” or hobby

Contracts take things to the next level, and really come in handy when it’s time to raise your rates. Plus, they give good clients the comfort of knowing that they’re dealing with a legitimate business owner who’s going to take care of them. And, they know that your contract is your promise to deliver the service they’re paying for.

Sarah learned this first hand:

Sarah Breeze

Copywriter

I've been freelancing as a copywriter for a couple of years now, and have always made do with the less-than-perfect contracts through my client management software. I stumbled on Amy's Legal Protection Bundle completely out of the blue and the price was so good I couldn't resist. As soon as I downloaded it, I knew it was the real deal. I combed through the freelancer's contract, looking for the missing details (non-disclosure agreement, intellectual property, publicity). Nothing was missing! I tweaked it for my business and immediately used it with my new client. He was so impressed that I had such a thorough NDA that suited both of us. It made me look professional and detail-oriented to my client. Amy's Legal Protection Bundle is the complete package you need to protect yourself and set clear expectations with every client. She walks you through the contract and explains all the legalese so you feel confident using the document. If you're on the fence about investing in any of Amy's legal products don't wait! Just do it. The sooner you protect your business the better.

Attorney-Reviewed Peace of mind

Clients with a history of treating creative entrepreneurs poorly will oftentimes be reluctant to sign a contract. But, even if they do, you have the peace of mind knowing your documents were prepared by me, a licensed attorney and you have the legal cushion necessary to protect your income and your business.

Katherine loved the confidence her contract gave her:

I signed a new workbook design client today and loved knowing my contract was totally legit thanks to your template! It was so incredibly easy to customize the contract to suit this client’s package purchase and I felt 100% confident sending it to the new client - who signed it and paid her invoice right away! Thanks for helping me cover my bases while looking all polished and pretty!

  • The basics of a service contract are the same across the US. All of the contract templates are designed to be broad enough to apply in any state, but they haven’t been reviewed by attorneys in all 50 states. You’re better off using one of our contract templates, written by an attorney, than no contract at all (or a random contract you found on Google), even if your state has some unique laws.

If you want to be sure, feel free to bring the contract templates to a local attorney licensed in your state for review. A review of a pre-drafted contract for compliance with local law costs much less than paying an attorney for a custom contract from scratch (about 25% as much).
